Children are truly great teachers - just by existing, they teach their parents how to love!

"For thou didst form my inward parts;
Thou didst knit me together in my mother's womb.  (…)
Thy eyes beheld my unformed substance" (Salm 139)

“(…) The one eliminated is a human being at the very beginning of life. No one more absolutely innocent could be imagined. In no way could this human being ever be considered an aggressor, much less an unjust aggressor! He or she is weak, defenceless, even to the point of lacking that minimal form of defence consisting in the poignant power of a newborn baby's cries and tears (…) The unborn child is totally entrusted to the protection and care of the woman carrying him or her in the womb.”

(John Paul II, in Encyclical Evangelium vitae, no 58)

I remember you well, my child, in that first ultrasound scan, like a little astronaut. The surprise sent a thrill through us from head to toe. Your mother still had the scars from her first delivery - and who had thought of you, who had seen you there? You just appeared, and I cannot imagine what the world would be like without you. The people who say that motherhood should always be preceded by the desire for a child have good intentions, but they are blind to reality. We know better
