The intimacy of a human person cannot be bought and sold or treated as a public spectacle … if this happens, there is a high risk that that person's inner life will be corrupted.

Modesty protects the mystery of persons and their love. It encourages patience and moderation in loving relationships; it requires that the conditions for the definitive giving and commitment of man and woman to one another be fulfilled. Modesty is decency. It inspires one's choice of clothing. It keeps silence or reserve where there is evident risk of unhealthy curiosity. It is discreet."

(Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2522)

The human being is valuable rather than beautiful, worthwhile or desirable. The dignity of the human person belongs to his or her very being. Personal intimacy is a central aspect of the person's existence.
The right to a personal sphere is inalienable. So curiosity which goes beyond charity and concern for others is never good, and cannot benefit anyone.
People who want to reveal their own private life lack modesty, because they are opening a door to what is most sacred in all of us, exposing themselves to gossip and giving rise to scandal. To educate children in the virtue of modesty, they should be encouraged to acquire habits related to respect for privacy and other people's personal sphere.
