Human rights are closely linked to the rights of the family.

"To promote human rights, we have to defend the rights of the family, since the family is the solid ground from which we can respond fully to the challenges of both present and future."

(John Paul II, Address on the Feast of the Holy Family, 26 February 1999.)

The rights of the person are closely linked to the rights of the family, because every person lives his or her entire life within a family. What is more, there is a basic human right - the right to have a family.

Everyone has the right to grow up in a family environment, and if for whatever reason this does not turn out, the State has the duty to provide them with a situation as similar as possible to a family.
